Yes, Fontrabiouse cave is accessible in all weathers. We even advise you to come and discover the cave after the great rains of spring and autumn. If you come during the rainy season you will be able to take full advantage of the sound atmosphere that takes place during the visit.
The constant temperature of the cave, will allow you to benefit from optimum climatic conditions in winter and/or summer; its underground setup will protect you from the elements.
The Fontrabiouse cave is a living cave (in constant formation). According to seasonal changes the cave will show a variety of faces. In periods of sustained rain the water runoffs will be stronger , the atmosphere would then become more humid, but this will not hinder your visit. However during the summer season (July and August) the cave will show you its thousands of facets, the decline of the water runoffs will give way to the natural sparkling of calcite crystals.
The Grotte de Fontrabiouse is open from January 02 to November 03, 2024 and from December 05 to 30, 2024, including weekends and public holidays (except December 24 and 25). Annual closure from November 05 to December 05, 2024.
For groups, the cave is open all year round (booked in advance). For more information on opening days, go to our “Dates and Opening times” page.

However, people with motor disabilities will not be able to access the cave, due to the interior structures which respect the natural aspect of the cave.
The descent into the cave is not arranged for strollers because the natural configuration of the cavity does not lend itself to it. The cave is a protected site and we had to respect certain planning rules in order to preserve our millennial heritage. A baby carrier is therefore recommended.
Thanks to the two level comfortable structures arranged since 1983, you will be able to discover with ease a perfectly preserved underground environment. For babies, we recommend bringing a baby carrier.
